Welcome! I’m Roxanne, the founder of Girlz Secret. The story behind the name of my store is actually based on my own “secret,” a secret that sadly, many new mamas have.

After giving birth to my son, I suffered from Postpartum Depression for two long years. It goes without saying that it was a horrible time in my life. Confused and not wanting to share my condition with anyone – even my own family – I suffered alone in silence.

With PPD, you feel so many emotions, from shame to guilt to loneliness, and more than anything, just feeling so inadequate as a mother. It can be a very dark time.

But I’m happy to say, the light came back into my life, and it really made me want to reach out to other mamas who might be experiencing the same thing. Therefore, this was the motivation behind launching Girlz Secret. I want to eliminate the shame, judgment and embarrassment that mothers suffering from PPD often feel. The more we bring this condition out in the open, address it, and talk about it, the less it becomes so taboo.

My line of t-shirts, hoodies, notepads, tote bags, bookmarks and stickers express all of the emotions that mamas with PPD experience on a daily basis. I’m hoping that my products are a way for mamas to openly communicate what they are feeling, and maybe find some peace and solidarity as a result. I want every woman out there currently suffering from PPD to know that you will be okay, that it’s alright (and necessary) to seek support, and most importantly, that this is not your fault.

My life is much happier these days. I love spending time with my family and friends, watching old school movies and Netflix, savoring my morning coffee and getting lost in a great book … and I love being a doting mom to my son!
